Audrey Godwin

 

Audrey Ann (Burdick) Godwin, 88, of Portland CT

Beloved wife of Frank Joseph Godwin Jr. for 67 years. She passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017, surrounded by family.

Born in Middletown, Audrey was the daughter of Floyd and Elizabeth (Rich) Burdick.  She lived in Portland for over 50 years and was a very active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, 345 Main St., Portland CT. She was a past Matron of the Lady Washington Chapter #45 of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) and was a long term volunteer at Middlesex Hospital, with over 2,000 hours logged.

Audrey enjoyed golfing, gardening, bagpipe music and birdwatching, especially hummingbirds.  She also loved to knit, crochet, and travel the world with her husband.

Audrey had a loving and generous heart, and was laways ready to give to others.  Her love of family was everything.  She raised her four children and was very involved with their lives and the lives of her grandchildren.

Audrey is survived by her husband Frank, her son Robert Godwin of Portland and his wife Nancy, her son David Godwin of East Hampton, her daughter Sharon Godwin Purzychi of Portland and her husband Todd, her daughter-in-law Kathy Godwin of Portland, ( grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 3 very close friends:  Josephine Collomore, Stasia D'Aquilaand Bill Schneck.

She was predeceased by her parents and her son, Norman Godwin of Portland.

Her wake was at Doolittle Funeral Services of Middletown the evening of July 6, 2017

Her funeral was at Trinity Church, 345 Main St, Portland CT, July 7, 2017

Her burial was at the Sweedish Cemetary in Portland July 7th,2017.
